30 Years of Inspiring a Love of Learning and Preparing Passionate Leaders

The school we know and love today was first brought to life by a small group of dedicated parents who shared a common vision for a different kind of school where the whole child is nurtured and celebrated. From the day the doors opened 30 years ago, the Salisbury Academy community has demonstrated a commitment to developing lifelong learners in an engaging, dynamic environment. As a result, hundreds of passionate problem solvers, communicators, stewards, and leaders have completed their Salisbury Academy journeys and gone on to make positive impacts in their schools, workplaces, and greater communities.

SA History

Salisbury Academy was founded in 1993 with the goal of providing an innovative option in education to the Salisbury community. With 13 students in grades 1, 2, and 3, the first classroom facilities were established in the education wing of Haven Lutheran Church.

In 1996, the junior kindergarten and kindergarten were established at their present facility, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Carter, located behind the main school building.  A year later, a middle school serving grades 5-8 was added, housed in a separate facility on Brenner Avenue, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Taylor.

By 2001, the school constituents had embarked on an extensive period of self-assessment and planning, and the decision was made to build a unified campus to serve all students in one location on land donated by Mrs. Martha Agner in memory of her husband, Dr. Roy Agner.

An ambitious fundraising and construction project was launched that resulted in the beautiful ten-acre campus and new buildings we presently enjoy. The school moved into the new building in the spring of 2003. This current building is part of an exciting master plan designed to ensure that Salisbury Academy will continue to provide exceptional educational facilities for our students for years to come.

Today, Salisbury Academy is bringing a key element of the master plan to fruition through the addition of a new early education and community connection building as part of our Opening Doors capital campaign. Additionally through Opening Doors, the school is expanding educational opportunities offered to students with the addition of a 3-year-old program and an innovative high school program for grades 9-12. Through these exciting enhancements and the upholding of the deep commitment to inspiring a love of learning and preparing passionate leaders that the school was founded upon, Salisbury Academy is building on 30 years of excellence and embracing a bright and energizing future!
