Annual Fund FAQ

Why does Salisbury Academy have an Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund supports excellence in Salisbury Academy's people, place, and programming. Annual Funds are common practice among independent schools and help keep tuition affordable so more students have access to the school’s education, and it allows a tax benefit to be realized as donations are tax deductible.

Where does the money from the Annual Fund go?

Proceeds from the Annual Fund support building improvements, faculty compensation, professional development for teachers, technology improvements, and more.

Does everyone have to give?

Each year, every enrolled family is expected to participate in giving to the Annual Fund. Your participation sends a strong message of support and confidence in our school, an important message when the school seeks large funding from foundations and corporations. Our goal is to reach 100% participation among staff, board, and parents.

What is the goal this year?

The Annual Fund goal for 2023-24 is $95,000.

How much should I give?

Each family is encouraged to support in a way that is personally meaningful, in keeping with the broad socio-economic range that is reflected in our school’s diverse community. No gift is too small and each one is essential. The average Annual Fund gift in 2022-23 was $486.

Are my donations tax deductible?

All gifts are tax deductible during the calendar year in which they are made. The schools fiscal year ends on June 30.

How do I donate?

Donations can be made in one of several ways:

By check to Salisbury Academy

By debit card or credit card online

By direct withdrawal from checking account

By stock transfer

By employee match

Contact Tracey Baird by email or phone (704.636.3002, Ext. 127) for information on making a donation with stock.

What are Salisbury Academy’s other fundraising efforts?

The Annual Fund is the biggest and most important annual fundraising effort at SA. Other fundraising efforts include Salisbury Academy's Corporate Partnership program and the Opening Doors capital campaign.

Booster Club and PSA are for parents, grandparents, and other family members to share their time and talent, fitting a wide variety of skills and schedules. It is a meaningful way to support the school, meet new friends and show students how committed adults are to their educational experience.
